I'm please to announce our September TwilightMOM of the Month - youngatheart!!!

She was nominated by her sister, vicky, and she is so sweet! Many of you may not know her but now we can all get to know her better with this interview...

Image

Real name?

Samantha...but no one ever calls me samantha unless its my Mum when shes shouting ( yes she still does that even though I am 31! :) )

Where did you grow up?

In a small town in the South of England in a county called Devon. I lived in the same town until I moved out about 3 years ago...10 miles away! So not far at all! I now live in the middle of the country, a minute from the beach.

OME! I love England! One of my dreams is to go there someday. LUCKY!

Sam, Vicky (her sister who is also a TM), her mum and dad.

What were you like as a small child/elementary school?

I was very shy but loved primary school and had a lot of friends. I loved horses!

What were you like in jr.high/high school?

I was still shy and was mad about Michael Jackson and New Kids On The Block. I preferred to stay in with my family than go out and loved family holidays...where I still have some of my best memories.

NKOTB fan? NO WAY? That's awesome!

Did you ever date anyone that reminded you of Edward?

No.

Did you ever date anyone that reminded you of Jacob?

I did when I was younger. It turned out we were definitely want to be friends more than boyfriend and girlfriend...we were quite young and it turned out he was actually gay! lol

Whoops! LOL!

Any college attended and if so, what were those days like for you?

I went to Plymouth University after my A levels and studied Business and Finance. I didn't complete the course which I do regret now but its a subject that definitely was not for me!

Is that like "Plymouth" in Sense and Sensibility? Go Edward! Hee hee!

How did you meet your husband?

we are separated now but I met him when we both worked together. He just came up and said " we should go out, Ill meet you on Thursday!" lol

Wow - he sure was confident!

Names, ages and accomplishments of children, if any.

I have 3 lovely children. Lititia ( pronounced Litia) is 6, Jessie is 4 and Charlie is 2. Lititia and Jessie both have Autism and Lititia also has Landau Kleffner Syndrome. Lititia attends a Special School ( she comes home every night like regular school...people usually think she stays there) She has improved so much, they said she might never talk and now 2 years on she literally does not stop even in her sleep!!! lol Jessie goes to pre-school and will start school in January. And Charlie is a real cheeky chappie!

Okay, you are now a saint in my book. Bless your heart! :)

Any pets?

I have 2 dogs called Gypsy and Tess. Gypsy is a collie and Tess is a Stafford-shire Bull Terrier, I have corn snakes, rats, 2 cats called Lola and Emma, Giant African Land Snails and a variety of Stick Insects.

Image Edward the snake

Image Bella the mouse

(Haha - that is brilliant...the snake and the mouse names)

Image Tess the dog

Describe your life now using 3 adjectives.

Happy, Busy, Noisy!!

What are your current hobbies, interests, etc?

When I do get some free time I spend most of it chatting to my friends on the Internet. I have met some amazing families with Special Needs kids and we met up on holiday in May which was wonderful. I have just come back from staying with one of the families.
I am doing a Child psychology course at home so that takes a lot of my time. I also enjoy music.... I am a huge Meatloaf fan :)
I also like to write poetry although I am not very good. I love tattoos and body piercings although don't have the time or money to get any these days!Lol I love to read, watch movies and I am a huge football (soccer) fan and a big supporter of Manchester United.

What are your goals for the future?

To make my children as happy as they can be and to always show them that they can achieve whatever they want. As for myself, I just want to be happy. I would like to become a teaching assistant in a Special Needs school or for Special Needs children. Winning the lottery would be a good idea too!!! :)

What is your current job/profession?

I am currently a stay at home Mum. My little 2 are still not in school so I am fortunate enough to stay at home with them.

Where on the web did you frequent before finding us?

This is the only website I really look on. I spend most of my time talking in my AOL groups.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

My eldest daughter says what she thinks as she doesn't know how to lie which is very embarrassing when she asks large people if they are pregnant or a poor girl with spots if she had chicken pox.

Oh, no! LOL! Kids do say the darnedest things, don't they?

List some of the songs currently on your ipod.

Bleeding Love
Please Forgive Me
Truly, madly deeply,
When You're gone...

think I must be in a soppy mood when I did these! :)

Any other current books you are reading?

I have a variety of books on the go at the moment, and I always have a Harry Potter on the go somewhere!

What's one thing you thought you'd always do or be but never have?

I have never really thought about what I'd be doing or like to do, I've always just gone with the flow. I never really had big plans apart from becoming a football manager but that's not so realistic! One thing I never thought I WOULD do though is have children. If someone told me 10 years ago I'd be here today with 3 I would have thought they were mad!

Haha. Isn't it so funny how that happens? A football manager? Wait, is that soccer there?

What is the inside of your house like? Decorated? Organized? Spotless? Messy? Cluttered? Can't see the floor?

Lots of toys! Definitely not spotless but not dirty. I do tend to keep lots of stuff so have started to be a bit stricter with myself as the clutter does tend to take over! My floor is usually full of play dough, glitter, paints... well not actually the floor itself but we do stuff on the floor! lol

I just love this question - I love hearing/seeing how other people live.

What is the one thing you love best about TwilightMOMS?

Being able to be myself! Its great to talk about the books without being given a funny look and its also a great support for life generally.

Great! I'm so glad it's a great support for you!

Hi Sam

Lovely to read more about you - you're obviously an amazingly strong woman. It makes me feel a bit ashamed of complaining about my three non-special needs kids!

I used to go climbing down in Swanage in another, fitter, younger life, and know Devon well. I miss the English countryside so much - especially here in Australia in mid summer!

Congratulations on being TM of the month!

Before anyone corrects me - I do know Swanage is in Dorset - I meant to say Swanage and Portland! Having one of those days :?
