Robin,

I recently finished Dragon Haven and enjoyed it. I was curious what inspired you to write about Dragons? I read in your FAQ that stories just happen to you? How did Dragonhaven "happen" to you?

Another question for you....

As you have probably surmised, we are completely obsessed with Twilight...well we actually like to call it a "healthy interest" (right Gypsywings?LOL). Besides Twilight, Stephen King's The Stand did it to me also.

Is there anything or any book that you have read that has subsequently changed your life? I am not talking about "Oh, yeah, that was a good book.." I am talking turned your life upside down and changed (hopefully) for the better....

Hello Ms Robin Mckinley, I was wondering if any of the characters in the story speak with accents. I kept hearing Jake speaking with an English acent in my mind. This was sort of reinforced by my not being farmillar with some of his slang (but maybe I'm just old). I was hearing this before I read your FAQ and found out that you live in England. I did however hear Martha destinctly in an American acent. maybe I am just wierd (this is highly possible). I also wanted to add that I loved how Jaked talked in Italics a lot it really sounded like a teenage boy that way.

I was just wondering how you decided the location of Smokehill when you started writing the book. I like the fact that the dragons were thriving in a location completely out of their native habitat. I also really enjoyed reading Jake's internal dialogue (sp). Thanks

Hi Robin---Thank you for posting the lemon bars recipe!! I am excited to try it!!

When Jake found Halcyon dying, did she give birth prematurely in hopes the other dragons will make it on time to rescue the dragonlets by sending them a telepathic message of her situation? Did her dying cause the premature labor?
Or was she in the process of giving birth when the poacher came upon her? Where were the birthing escorts?
